Dr. Eric Pasternack worked as a petrophysicist with ARCO from 1979-1998 before starting his own consulting company in 1999. Dr. Pasternack currently serves as vice president of publications of the Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts, and just completed a term as editor of the journal Petrophysics. The course covers the basic well logging measurements, basic log interpretation methods in clastics and complex reservoirs, advanced log interpretation methods and logging technologies. In addition, interpretation of old electrical logs, core-log integration and core analysis methods will also be reviewed.

Geoprofessionals in the fields of energy exploration and production who want to broaden their knowledge and understanding of oil and gas well logging technology will benefit from this course. Geologists, geophysicists, engineers, geotechnicians and both middle and upper management personnel in energy exploration and production also should attend.

“An Introduction to Petrophysics,” is Aug. 14-15 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The tuition cost of $250 includes all presentation materials and lunch both days. Two days of continuing education units will be awarded for this course. To register, send an e-mail to Tom Ackerman at tackerman@demac.com, or call 214-891-1160, and include your name address, birth date, a valid contact number and e-mail address.
