| The Hope Tax Credit, sometimes call the Hope Scholarship, may be available
to eligible taxpayers for the first two years of postsecondary education.
The credit covers 100 percent of tuition and fees, and 50 percent of the second
$1,000 that you spend on tuition and fees during the qualified period. If
you also receive financial aid, that aid will be deducted from your HOPE Tax
Credit. To be eligible, you must be enrolled in a degree, certificate or other
program leading to a recognized education credential and you must be enrolled
at least half time. The Internal Revenue Service is the best source for the
latest guidelines. For more information, visit your local IRS office or visit
