Welcome to the Drama Department
The Drama Department and Theatre Brookhaven give aspiring and advanced theater students
the opportunity to satisfy their dramatic creativity. The hallmark of the School of the
Arts’ Drama Department is hands-on training that offers students and community members
numerous opportunities to learn about acting and theater, and to participate in serious
theatrical productions. Study combined with actual experience prepares our drama students
to continue their formal theater education at a four-year school or to begin a
professional career.
Students can find a full range of acting and technical theater courses and have opportunities
to participate in Theatre Brookhaven productions. Theatre Brookhaven produces two main-stage
productions, two smaller productions and a summer musical for each outstanding theatrical
season. The Drama Department’s course offerings include: Introduction to Theatre, Acting,
Rehearsal and Performance, Stagecraft and Scene Study. Students work side-by-side with
professionals to design and build sets, create costumes and produce shows.
