Travis Scott, adjunct faculty
Travis currently teaches applied tuba and euphonium at the college, in addition to teaching at some of the top high school band programs in the state. He also maintains euphonium studios for Berkner High School, Lewisville High School and the Coppell Independent School District. He is the director of North Texas Euphonium Company, a euphonium choir made up of Metroplex-area euphoniums. He holds music degrees from the University of Akron and the University of North Texas.
Very interested in new music for his instrument, he has commissioned or requested works from composers such as Anthony Plog, Nikola Resanovic, James Woodward, Elgar Howarth and Jiro Censhu.
In the Spring of 2013 he will premiere Barbara York’s second Euphonium Sonata with Richard Shirey, the result of a consortium of friends of fallen trumpeter, Ryan Mathews. Travis is a member of the Blossom Festival Band and the newly formed Texas Star Brass Band, and a regular substitute with the Lone Star Wind Orchestra. He can be heard on recordings with the Brass Band of the Western Reserve, the Cleveland Symphonic Winds, the University of North Texas Wind Symphony, and on the Lone Star Wind Orchestra’s debut recording, American Tapestry.
