College now offers courses and, in some cases, entire degree plans that
can be taken entirely via the Internet. These courses use the World
Wide Web, e-mail and chat tools to create an environment in which a
student can learn, complete assignments, take tests and interact with
other students and the course instructor. While many assignments have
deadlines just as in a regular classroom course, students do not have
a lecture to attend and can work whenever they want – even at 3 a.m.! This
