Mary Lou Avera and Marisa Walsdorf, Management Program professors, are highly accomplished in both business and higher education. These short biographies tell more:

Mary Lou Avera has an extensive management background having worked in manufacturing management and labor relations negotiations. She also has worked in financial sales, as an accountant in industry, and as a consultant for state government.
She earned her bachelor of science in management from Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. Her master of business administration is from Governor’s State University in Illinois. She has completed graduate courses in management and accounting from the University of Texas at Dallas. Mary Lou began teaching college in Illinois and Indiana while employed in industry. She has been a professor of management at Brookhaven College since 1979.

Marisa Walsdorf has spent 15 years at IBM in Dallas in the area of customer support operations, where she managed customer accounts ranging from small and mid-range computer shops to large mainframe environments. Her industry experience at IBM included clients in the private and public sectors, including state and federal governments and higher education. Marisa also has experience in the banking industry, including the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.
She earned her bachelor of business administration and master of business administration, with a major in management, at Dallas Baptist University. Marisa has been a professor of Management at Brookhaven College since 2000.
