  NOTE: There are no state or national requirements for eligibility or licensure in the Medical Records Coding/Claims Processing professions. Although no certification exam is required for entry-level employment, two professional organizations offer certifications through national accreditation exams. The American Health Information Management Association, AHIMA, offers the Certified Coding Specialist, CCS. The American Academy of Professional Coders offers two certificates, the Certified Professional Coder, CPC, and the Certified Professional Coder–Hospital, CPC–H.
