Admission to the Program

The Radiologic Sciences Program will accept approximately 30 students for each class. Brookhaven College reserves the right to adjust the number selected. Download the Radiologic Sciences Program information and admissions packet for detailed admissions criteria and application forms.

Application to the Radiologic Sciences Program requires the following steps:

• Application and admission to a Dallas County Community College District, DCCCD, college.
• Attendance at a Radiologic Sciences Program information session.
• Completion of the four program prerequisite courses with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on those specific courses. You must have received a grade of "B" or higher in the SCIT 1407 or BIOL 2401 course.
• Score of 75 or above on the HESI entrance exam.
• Submission of a complete application packet to the Radiologic Science Office during a designated filing period.
• Physical requirements for a career in Radiologic Sciences include the ability to lift and move patients and equipment, move quickly during an emergency and be able to stand for long periods of time. For more details on physical requirements, see p. 12 of the information packet.

Competitive Selection

Acceptance to the Radiologic Sciences Program is through acompetitive selection process based on a point system outlined in Section G of the information packet. Potential applicants are required to attend a Radiologic Sciences Program information session where the program, application procedures, and acceptance policies are discussed in detail.

Transfer Information

Students enrolling in the degree program who plan to transfer to a four-year institution should consult an advisor regarding transfer requirements and the transferability of these courses to the four-year institution of their choice.
