For Brandon Rains, the 2013-2014 season marks his 14th in college baseball and third as the head coach of the Brookhaven College Bears. The Bears have advanced to the NJCAA District C Regional Tournament every year under Coach Rains' direction. During his first season, the Bears finished one game back of a conference championship and ranked ninth nationally during the regular season. In addition to the two successful seasons under Rains, the Bears have sent all 12 of their sophomores to play at the university level including four players who are currently at NCAA Division I universities.
Prior to Brookhaven College, Rains held the position of lead assistant coach/recruiting coordinator for the University of Texas at Dallas. While at UTD, Rains helped guide the Comets to seven playoff appearances in eight seasons. The program also produced 15 players in eight years that signed professional baseball contracts with affiliated or independent league teams.
Rains began his coaching career at the University of Saint Mary serving as an assistant coach in 2000 and taking over as head coach in 2001. Saint Mary qualified for the post season in both these years. Rains has also coached traveling teams in Aruba, Australia, Italy, the Dominican Republic, Holland and Germany.
