Without academics, there are no athletics. Our basketball players
will be students first. Without that priority, they will end up being ineligible for athletics - thereby hurting themselves
and their teammates, while severely limiting their future options.
On the Court
The Bears employ an up-tempo, team-oriented game by full court pressing for 40 minutes, utilizing 12-15 players every game, and putting points on the board in bunches. In 2012, the Bears compiled a 26-6 record and won the Metro Athletic Conference Title. In 2008, the team won the MAC conference co-championship with a 25-6 record and was second in the nation in scoring in 2007-2008. Furthermore, in nine of the last twelve years, the team averaged 82 points or higher per game and looks for more of the same in 2013-2014. The coaching staff travels the state (and sometimes the country) in an effort to locate high character student athletes capable of representing Brookhaven College in a positive manner and putting the Bears in national championship contention year after year.
Thank you for your interest in Bears Basketball.
On May 24, Brookhaven Bears basketball players Joe Williams, Ty Davis and Tray Baldwin spent the day visiting the students of Hedrick Elementary school in Lewisville.
In the morning, they participated in Career Day for 3rd through 5th grade classes and spoke to the kids about the importance of education and hard work.
In the afternoon, the three young men and Coach Hurst read to several kindergarten classes. They all did an outstanding job of respresenting Brookhaven College!
