Men's Basketball

Our Philosophy

In Class

Without academics, there are no athletics. Our basketball players will be students first. Without that priority, they will end up being ineligible for athletics - thereby hurting themselves and their teammates, while severely limiting their future options.

On the Court

The Bears employ an up-tempo, team-oriented game by full court pressing for 40 minutes, utilizing 10-12 players every game, and putting points on the board in bunches. In addition to their 2008 conference co-championship and 25-6 record, the team was second in the nation in scoring in 2007-2008. Furthermore, in six of the last seven years, the team scored 90 points or higher per game and looks for more of the same in 2008-2009. The coaching staff travels the state (and sometimes the country) in an effort to locate student-athletes capable of putting the Bears in national championship contention year after year.

Thank you for your interest in Bears Basketball.

Bears News

For the first time in school history, the Brookhaven Bears Basketball Team had six players receive some level of All-Conference / All-Region recognition.

  • Sophomore Nosa Amadasun from Dallas Spruce High School was named First Team All-Region.
  • Sophomore Darian Tealer from San Antonio Marshall High School was named Second Team All-Conference.
  • Sophomore Brandon O'Bryant from New Waverley High School was named Third Team All-Conference.
  • Sophomore Craigory Christopher from Morgan City (LA) High School,
Sophomore Lance Johnson from Denton High School, and
Freshman Chris Smith from Royse City High School were all named Honorable Mention All-Conference.

If you see any of these young men please congratulate them, and thank you again to all for your support during our 2008-2009 season.
