Information on E Grades

What type of students get E grades? Do these students typically do as well other students? Do some students tend to “collect” E grades? These are some of the many questions surrounding the relatively new use of the E grade in developmental classes.  The E grade is a “neutral” grade that allows a student to complete a course without the negative consequences of failing or withdrawing, while no credit is given.

Illustrated are the results of a study of DCCCD students who received one or more E grades from 1998-1999.  Some additional findings to note are:
