Australian Set to Perform for Guitar Dallas
Farmers Branch, Dallas, Texas – Karin Schaupp, one of the most outstanding and respected young musicians in Australia today, brings her talent to a local performance as part of the Guitar Dallas series at Brookhaven College Oct. 24 at 8 p.m. The concert is scheduled in the Ellison Miles Geotechnology Institute, Room H125. Tickets for the concert are $24 for general admission and $10 for students.
In 1997 Karin Schaupp signed with Warner Music internationally and has since released three highly acclaimed solo CDs: Soliloquy (1997), Leyenda (1998) and her latest release, Evocation (2000). All three CDs proved to be classical best-sellers shortly after their Australian release. The albums rode high on the classical charts and are enjoying international success as their worldwide release continues.
Taught almost exclusively by her guitarist mother Isolde Schaupp, Karin Schaupp started playing at the age of five. While in her teens, she won international prizes at competitions in Lagonegro, Italy and Madrid. At the age of 18, she gave her orchestral debut playing Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez with the Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra. Shortly after, she premiered Phillip Bracanin’s award-winning Guitar Concerto, which was written for her, and later recorded the piece with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
The Guitar Dallas concerts are presented by the Center For the Arts in partnership with the Fort Worth Classical Guitar Society.
