|“Picnic” Closes Theatre Brookhaven’s

Spring is the perfect time for a “Picnic,” as Theatre Brookhaven
offers performances of this Pulitzer Prize-winning play April 29-May 2 in
the Brookhaven College Arena Theatre. Directed by Michael Schraeder,
William Inge·s drama explores family relationships, the belief in
love and the loneliness that permeates his character’s lives.
|Two sisters in a small Kansas town, one
beautiful and one smart are central to the play. Madge, the beautiful
sister, must chose between the handsome and rich Alan, and the drifter,
Hal. Inge’s portrayal of life in a small town in the 1950s was
the winner of a Pulitzer Prize, the Drama Critics Circle Award, the Outer
Circle Award, and the Theatre Club Award in 1952.
| Performances are April 29 through May 1
at 8 p.m. in the Arena Theatre with a matinee performance May 2 at 2:30
p.m. Tickets are $6 for general admission, $4 for students and senior
