hosts Mesquite Symphony "Salute to New York"
| Farmers Branch, Dallas, TX • The
Mesquite Symphony Orchestra will present "A Salute to New York,"
at Brookhaven College Sept. 18 at 8 p.m. in the lobby of the Student Services
Center. The program is dedicated to the people of New York City and as a
tribute to the city's fire and police departments and port authority personnel
to commemorate the events of Sept. 11, 2001.
|The program provides a sampling of several
musical styles and a piece written by Roger Gilliam, music director of the
MSO, in remembrance of to the memory of 9-11. American favorites such as
"America, the Beautiful," "New York, New York," and
"Lullaby of Broadway," are on the program, as well a piece by
John Williams, "Liberty Fanfare," originally created for the rededication
of the Statue of Liberty in 1986.
|Featured saxophone soloist for the concert
is Roy Allen Jr., professor of music at Brookhaven College, and tenor saxophonist
in the Dallas Wind Symphony. Tickets for the concert are $15 for adults

School of the Arts Music Club. The Brookhaven College School of the Arts
is funded in part by grants from the Town of Addison, and the City of Carrollton.
