Career Fair Matches Employers with Job Hunters

FARMERS BRANCH/DALLAS • Businesses will be looking for both full- and part-time new employees at the spring Career Fair at Brookhaven College, April 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student Services Center, Building S lobby. Visitors are encouraged to bring copies of their resumes and be prepared to speak to employers at the event.

More than 60 businesses are registered to attend the event representing financial, hospitality, retail, health care, insurance, government and technical companies. Both national and local businesses, large and small, have attended in the past including CitiFinancial, Dallas Police Department, Blockbuster, Inc., Pappadeaux Restaurant and Hilton hotels. The fair is sponsored by the U.S. Army and United Parcel Service.

From April 4-8, the Career Development Center will offer seminars geared toward helping Brookhaven College students' transition into the workforce. Seminar topics include:

• “The Great Race… Your Reality Show,” by Linda Swindling, April 4 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in Room B304, emphasizing setting goals and finding the right path to reach them.
• “Catapult Your Career with the Art of Communication,” by Lorri Allen, April 5 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in Room B304, highlighting the three C’s - conversation, crisis and the commercial.
• “Five Steps to Career Success,” with Joann Tolbert Yancy, April 6 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in Room A203, stressing what it takes to create career success.

The Career Fair is free and open to the public. In addition to two semi-annual career fairs, Brookhaven College’s Career Development Center offers individual counseling, mock interviews, career testing and job search assistance.
