DALLAS – Comedy touches this tragic story of a bankrupt town asked to hand over one of its members for execution in exchange for top dollar. Theatre Brookhaven presents “The Visit,” by Friedrich Düerrenmatt and translated by Patrick Bowles, Feb. 28-March 9.

The play focuses on the once prosperous but now decrepit town of Guellen, located somewhere in Europe. Claire Zachanassian, is returning to Guellen, and is now a millionaire. Claire left town years ago, but is coming back willing to share her wealth—on one condition. In exchange for her millions, all she wants in return is for the townspeople to turn over and execute, Ill, her former friend and lover. The people of Guellen are desperate for help and for money, but are they desperate enough?

Directed by Michael A. Robinson, shows are Feb. 28-March 1 and March 6-8 at 8 p.m., and March 2 and 9 at 2:30 p.m. in the School of the Arts Performance Hall in Building C. General admission is $8; student and senior adults are $6. Tickets are available at the School of the Arts Box Office at 972-860-4118. Box Office hours are Monday through Thursday from 1 to 5 p.m. and Friday from 1 to 3:30 p.m.
