DALLAS—The Brookhaven College Art Department faculty exhibit in Academia: Pushing the Boundaries at the McKinney Avenue Contemporary through July 11.
Featuring the remarkable works of a group of scholars living, teaching and producing art in North Texas, works of the faculty of Brookhaven College are in the square gallery faculty, with works by the University of Texas at Arlington faculty in the rectangle gallery and teachers of Sofia Art Academy in the new works space. David Newman, adjunct professor and gallery director at Brookhaven College will curate the works of the Brookhaven College faculty.
Brookhaven College faculty participating in the exhibition are: Betsy Belcher, Barbara Brault, Jim Burton, Du Chau, Chong Chu, Beau Comeaux, Kace Davis, Elizabeth Hurtado, Lisa Ehrich, Corey Johnson, Natalie Macellaio, Rick Maxwell, Susan Mollet, David Newman, Michael O’Keefe, Chancellor Page, Rebecca Swann, Lianne Krueger Sullivan, Don Taylor, David Van Ness, and Marla Ziegler.
The works will cover a wide variety of media including drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, printmaking, art metals, glass, and video. “The MAC will celebrate the diversity of contemporary art media and the important artistic contribution of the scholars creating a feast for the senses within the galleries. The exhibit aims to expose the benefits of cultivating intellectual human capital through education,” The McKinney Avenue Contemporary Interim Director Liliana Bloch said.
