DALLAS – The Brookhaven Courier the student newspaper at Brookhaven College, has been nominated for an Associated Collegiate Press Pacemaker Award for two-year colleges. The Pacemaker award recognizes excellence in coverage and content, quality of writing and editing, leadership on the opinion page, evidence of in-depth reporting, layout and design, and photography, art and graphics. The award has been the highest honor available to ACP members for more than 70 years and today is considered one of the most prestigious awards in collegiate journalism.

This is the second year the Brookhaven College student newspaper has been nominated. The newspaper staff includes Scott Figuerola, editor; Nadia Galindo, managing editor; Chris Vivero, photo editor; Samantha Nickel, layout editor, and Kristin McKenzie, copy editor. Larie Engles is the manager of student publications.

The winners will be honored at the ACP/CMA National College Media Convention awards ceremony in Kansas City on Nov. 1.
