News at Brookhaven College

DALLAS – This August, the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Associate of Applied Science at Brookhaven College received program recognition from the Texas Skills Standards Board, TSSB. The programs were recognized as being integrated with the industry-defined GIS technician skill standards.

Program recognition from the TSSB acknowledges that the program curriculum is integrated with the industry-defined skills necessary for graduates to become GIS technicians. The skills standards enhanced program benefits both employers, who gain a better-qualified workforce, and students, who graduate with the necessary skills and knowledge that employers want.

J. Scott Sires, GIS professor, was presented with a framed certificate at the opening session of the Texas Council of College Instructional Leaders conducted Oct. 1, in Austin by Wayne Oswald, TSSB chairman.
