News at Brookhaven College

DALLAS - Community agencies are bringing a safety message to students at Brookhaven College for "A Pact to IMPACT, Coming Together to Change," March 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Student Services Center, Building S. This safety awareness event focuses on alcohol awareness.

Professionals Encouraging Educational Reform Statewide, PEERS, will be bringing their AWARE III Simulator, a DUI/DWI simulator to campus to show students the real feel of driving under the influence. PEER also will show a video about the effect of DWI on friends and family, from the accident to death notification. The Brookhaven College Police Department will be giving a presentation, "Be Prepared, Be Aware" focusing on personal safety at home and in public.

The Greater Dallas Council on Alcohol & Drug Abuse and Alliance On Underage Drinking will be active participants at the event sharing useful information on underage drinking and safe sex practices.

Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission will be participating by providing education and awareness on alcohol abuse. MADD and Farmers Branch Fire Department will be at the event. The Army will be here with a H3 Hummer equipped with interactive games and the Rock Climber. The Dallas County Auto Theft Task Force also will be participating.
