News at Brookhaven College

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dallas - The Brookhaven College Head Start Center, a center of HEAD START of Greater Dallas, Inc., in Farmers Branch, is temporarily closed from Wed., April 30, through Tues., May 5. The action was taken by Head Start officials as a precaution after learning that the sibling of one of the youngsters who attends the center was diagnosed with Type A influenza; swine flu has not been confirmed.

The center will be disinfected this week and re-opened on Wed., May 6. The decision to close for a week was based on the fact that the incubation period for Type A influenza is five to seven days, according to Dr. Richard McCrary, interim president of Brookhaven College. A total of six Brookhaven College students who recently either have worked in or visited the Head Start Center were notified that they may have been exposed to Type A influenza.

The Brookhaven College Head Start Center serves 152 students, ages 3 to 5.
