DALLAS – In recognition of Disability Awareness Month, Brookhaven College will host a Disability Awareness Fair on Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student Services Center, Building S. Dozens of nonprofit disability vendors from the Dallas-Fort Worth and Farmers Branch area will come together for the event.
The fair is sponsored by the college’s Special Services Office and the newly formed Pathways Club. Representatives from local agencies such as United Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida Association, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Tourette Syndrome Association of Texas, Mosaic Family Services, International Dyslexia Association-Dallas Branch, Scottish Rite Hospital, Easter Seals North Texas, City of Dallas Parks & Recreation/Therapeutic Recreation and Camp Summit will be on hand to discuss their programs and services.
In addition to information, the event will feature a wheelchair mobility course and other activities that simulate the challenges those with vision or hearing disabilities face on a daily basis.
