Vernon L. Hawkins, Brookhaven College associate vice president for Workforce and Continuing Education, has been appointed North Region Representative for the Texas Administrators of Continuing Education (TACE). Hawkins will represent the northern region of Texas, serving on the 11-member TACE Board of Directors. His primary duties will be to keep the TACE Board informed of issues, successes and other items related to the members and member institutions of the northern region. Additionally, Hawkins will preside over at least one regional meeting each year. TACE is the primary statewide professional organization for continuing and workforce education, community service, and corporate training.

More than halfway through the season, the Brookhaven College men’s basketball team is holding strong, ranked sixth in its National Junior College Athletic Association division, with a 16-1 record. Coach Kevin Hurst says the current record marks the most first-semester and non-conference wins in program history. The team continues to rank well in statistics for offensive and defensive averages, at tenth in the division, scoring an average of more than 84 points and giving up an average of only 64 points per game.
