DALLAS—The Brookhaven College Art Department will present two exhibitions in the coming weeks that feature the works of Julie Shipp Colbert and Mary Kathryn Wimberly, both faculty artists at the school.
Colbert's paintings will show June 15 to July 3 in the Forum Gallery, while Wimberly's photography exhibit will run June 8 to July 3 in the Studio Gallery. Both artists are participants of the long-running Faculty Project series.
Colbert has been a drawing teacher in the Brookhaven College School of the Arts since 2009. She earned her Master of Fine Arts in painting from the University of Texas at San Antonio and two Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in drawing and painting, and art history from the University of North Texas. Exhibiting regularly in the region, Colbert is represented by the Joan Grona Gallery in San Antonio, Texas.
Wimberly teaches photography in the Brookhaven College School of the Arts. She earned her Master of Fine Arts from Texas Woman's University and Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of North Texas. Wimberly exhibits regularly in the region, as well as across the globe. Her work was presented at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia in the cities of Medellin and Leticia and was featured at Nexus, a South American exhibit.
Receptions for both artists are June 21 from 6-8 p.m. in both the Forum and Studio Galleries.
The exhibitions are free and open to the public. Brookhaven College is located at 3939 Valley View Lane, between Midway Road and Marsh Lane in Farmers Branch. The Forum Gallery is in Bldg. F, Room F101, and the Studio Gallery is in Bldg. D, Room D127. Both galleries are open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
