DALLAS—The Brookhaven College School of the Arts is pleased to present two new exhibitions from March 11 to April 3 in the Forum and Studio Galleries.
The Forum Gallery will display the work of Janet Chaffee entitled, Janet Chaffee: Pentamento. Her more recent exhibitions include Underneath and In-Between at the Mighty Fine Arts in Dallas and Drawn and Cut at the Ellen Noel Museum in Odessa. Additional pieces were also featured at the Longview Museum of Fine Arts and at East Central University in Ada, Okla. Chaffee received her Bachelor in Fine Arts in painting from the University of Texas at Arlington and her Master of Fine Arts in painting from Texas Christian University. In 2010, Chaffee was awarded a residency at AtelierHaus Hilmsen in Salzwedel, Germany.
Shafaq Ahmad exhibits paintings and digital works on paper in the Studio Gallery. His exhibition is entitled, Shafaq Ahmad: Vibrations. One of his most recent exhibitions reached as far as the Royal Festival Hall in London, England, and was entitled, Brit Pak. Other works were also featured at the Contemporary Visual Art Center in New York, the MADI Museum in Dallas and the Fort Worth Contemporary Art Center. Ahmad received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University and his Master of Fine Arts from Texas Christian University.
A reception will be held for each artist in their respective galleries March 28, 6-8 p.m.
The exhibitions are free and open to the public. Brookhaven College is located at 3939 Valley View Lane, between Midway Road and Marsh Lane in Farmers Branch. The Forum Gallery is located in Bldg. F, Room F101, and the Studio Gallery is located in Bldg. D, Room D127. Both galleries are open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., but will be closed March 18-22 for spring break.
