Release Date Jan. 7
DALLAS—The Brookhaven College Art Department is pleased to present an exhibition by Eleanor Kreneck and Lynwood Kreneck in the Forum Gallery of the Brookhaven College School of the Arts from Jan. 8-Feb. 5.
In 2010, Eleanor and Lynwood Kreneck spent four weeks in Guanlan, China, teaching screenprinting and undertaking the initial work for the exhibition.
Eleanor Kreneck's narrative quilts combine figurative imagery from China and West Texas, rather than the geometric patterning commonly associated with the quilt form. A professional artist member of the Studio Art Quilts Associates, Eleanor Kreneck exhibits nationally, with recent exhibitions in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Indiana, Illinois and California.
Lynwood Kreneck's screenprints and drawings deploy humorous figurative visual metaphors to engage content of gravity. Lynwood Kreneck is professor emeritus of art at Texas Tech University. Noted for his instrumental role in the development of the materials and techniques for water-based screenprinting, he has provided leadership for the development of complex color printmaking through his work curating the Colorprint USA exhibition series at Texas Tech University for the past 40 years. His work is in more than 40 museums and numerous private collections. In 2006, the Southern Graphics Council International recognized Kreneck with the Teaching Excellence in Printmaking Award.
A reception will be held for the artist in the Forum Gallery Jan. 30, 6-8 p.m.
The exhibitions are free and open to the public. Brookhaven College is located at 3939 Valley View Lane, between Midway Road and Marsh Lane in Farmers Branch. The Forum Gallery is located in Bldg.
