Observe Oceanography at the Coast

GEOL 1445: Introduction to Oceanography

Trip Week is June 18-25, 2005.

Go to the source to experience oceanography first hand. This field study course at Brookhaven College takes the exploration of the ocean and its phenomenon on the road and on the water June 18-25. Taught by Durward Mommsen, former Navy oceanographer and Naval Academy instructor, the course is a full four-hour lab science course. Seven on-campus classroom sessions cover topics in preparation for the extended field study tour’s hands-on exploration.

Students will study beaches in Galveston and at North Padre Island, learn about dredging on a boat tour of Port Aransas Harbor and get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of Sea World with a special tour.

Reserve your space! The cost for the class is $750 plus standard tuition. A deposit of $375 is required, with the balance of the fee due by May 30. The cost includes transportation, lodging and meals as well as entrance and tour costs.
