Without academics, there are no athletics. Our basketball players will be students first. Without that priority, they will end up being ineligible for athletics - thereby hurting themselves and their teammates, while severely limiting their future options.
On the Court
The Bears employ an up-tempo, team-oriented game by full court pressing for 40 minutes, utilizing 12-15 players every game, and putting points on the board in bunches. In the 2014-2015 season, the Bears compiled a 21-10 record, with 11-4 at home, 7-5 on the road and 3-1 at a neutral site. The team secured a win at North Lake College for the first time since 2011, and consecutive wins at Eastfield College since the 2011-2012 season. The Bears also had the largest comeback in Brookhaven College and MAC history after trailing 30 points against Mountain View College. Six players scored over 200 points this season, resulting in the second highest number in school history. The team also celebrated their 400th win in program history on Dec. 14, 2014 after defeating Cy-Fair College 123-88. Overall, the Bears finished third in the nation in scoring for the second straight season, 7th in the nation for number of steals per game and reached 11th place in national rankings.
The coaching staff travels the state (and sometimes the country) in an effort to locate high character student athletes capable of representing Brookhaven College in a positive manner and putting the Bears in national championship contention year after year.
