PSSA awards a $350 scholarship each year to one student. The scholarship is open to all Brookhaven College students who are enrolled for at least six credit hours and have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
The PSSA Scholarship must be used only for tuition and books at Brookhaven College. If the student only uses a portion of the award, the remainder goes into an account that may be used during another term.
Students must complete an application, submit a transcript and get a letter of recommendation from an instructor. Applications are available at the Career Center and must be returned there no later than 4:30 p.m., Feb. 1.
In addition to the general application information, students must write a brief paragraph describing each of the following:
- Their educational goals
- Their life and career goals
- A typical week in their lives
- Why they deserve the scholarship
PSSA members may not nominate students for the scholarship, but all employees are encouraged to recommend students apply. The PSSA Scholarship Committee reviews applications. Selected applications are sent on to the full membership for a vote.
