Although the President of Brookhaven College is ultimately responsible for the safety and security of the College, a professional staff of police officers are employed to protect the life and property of students and staff. It is the responsibility of each person employed at Brookhaven College to contribute directly to safety, crime prevention, and the security of property on campus. Employees and work groups are responsible for adherence to the provisions and procedures outlined below: 1. All members of the College must be alert to potential safety hazards, unsecured valuables, suspicious circumstances or persons, and unlocked and unattended work spaces or offices and report them to the Brookhaven College Police Department (972-860-4190); 2. Additionally each employee is responsible for securing College property, personal valuables, and offices assigned to them when not in use or unoccupied. Each division dean and department manager is responsible for: 1. Identifying, reporting, and correcting potential or actual unsafe conditions, vulnerable equipment, property, and unsecured work areas; 2. Informing and supervising work group staff in regard to safe working conditions and security standards and procedures; 3. Reporting any suspected or actual property loss or crime, injury to any employee, or unresolved violation of security standards immediately to the College Police Department. 4. Maintaining division/department awareness of campus emergency procedures, fire evacuation and tornado evacuation plans. In addition to the responsibilities and procedures set forth, the Director of Police will provide for staff development or other necessary support to the divisions/work groups upon request by the administrator/manager of the requesting area. |
