Students are expected to attend regularly all classes in which they are enrolled. In addition to responsible class attendance, students should also consult with their instructor when an absence does occur. At the beginning of each semester, the instructor is responsible for describing his/her attendance policy and procedures to all students enrolled in his/her classes. This information should also be clearly stated in the course syllabus. From a Class: Sole responsibility for course withdrawal rests with the student, except in cases of non-payment of fees or non-compliance with TASP requirements (see sections on “Dropped for Non-payment of Tuition and Fees” or “Dropped for TASP”). Deadlines for dropping a class are published in the College catalog and semester class schedule. From the College: Deadlines for withdrawing from the College are the same as those for dropping a class. The same exceptions apply for non-payment of fees or non-compliance with TASP requirements. Should circumstances warrant, a student may request reinstatement to a course if, in the opinion of the instructor, the student can be expected to complete the course. A student dropped for non-payment of fees or non-compliance with TASP requirements (see sections on “Dropped for Non-payment of Tuition and Fees” or “Dropped for TASP”) may request reinstatement only after those problems are resolved. The student has sole responsibility to contact the instructor regarding reinstatement. The instructor will inform the student regarding his/her decision. The decision to reinstate a student rests with the instructor. As in all student related matters, the student has the right of appeal through the appropriate channels (Division Dean, Vice President of Instruction and Student Support Services, and President). A student dropped for non-payment of fees may request reinstatement only after presenting notification from the College Business Office that all fees in question are paid-in-full. Forms for reinstatement are available in the Admissions Office. The instructor of the course(s) in question must make the decision regarding such a request and the student has the right of appeal (see section on “Reinstatement”). A student must withdraw from all college level course(s) if the student discontinues required remediation (see Board of Trustees Policy Manual, sec. FBC). |
