As a general guideline, full-time instructors can teach a maximum of two additional courses per semester, not to exceed the compensation equivalent of seven (7) course contact hours. Requests for exceptions to this guideline must be submitted for approval to the appropriate Division Dean by any instructor who desires: 1. An overload teaching or counseling assignment greater than an equivalent of seven (7) course contact hours or the compensation equivalent thereof; 2. Graduate school enrollment in excess of that authorized in section on “Graduate Enrollment” below; or 3. Any combination of teaching/counseling/graduate work involving more than an equivalent of six (6) semester/contact hours. Full-time faculty may enroll in a maximum of six (6) semester hours during a long-term semester (see section above for exceptions). See Board of Trustees Policy DEA (LOCAL) for restrictions on number of credit hours acceptable in a given semester. Work completed by faculty in classes (on or off campus) during normal work hours (outside the 30-hour workweek) will not be eligible for either academic or non-academic salary credit. Under exceptional circumstances, faculty can obtain permission to redefine their normal work hours with approval of the appropriate division dean, Vice President and President. |
