Mental Health Emergency
A mental health emergency is a serious mental or emotional problem such as:
- When a person is a danger to himself, herself, or others because of what seems like a mental illness, or
- When a person cannot get or use the food, shelter, or clothing she or he needs because of what seems like a mental illness.
Off Campus
In case of a mental health emergency, please call 9-1-1 or take the person to a hospital emergency room. You may also wish to contact the Dallas Counseling and Crisis 24 Hour Hotline at 972-233-2233 or the Suicide and Crisis Hotline at 214-828-1000.
On Campus
If your emergency occurs during operational hours, contact the Brookhaven College Counseling Center at Bldg. S, Room S113, or 972-860-4830 or the Health Center at Bldg. S, Room S072, or 972-860-4195.
You also may ask a Brookhaven College employee to call a counselor, or you
may ask the College Police for help by calling 911 from a campus phone or
972-860-4290.
