We are pleased you are planning to attend Brookhaven College. The Financial Aid Office is committed to
assisting you in obtaining the necessary financing to achieve your educational goals.
We assist students by awarding financial aid for post-secondary education. Financial aid is awarded as
grants, scholarships and loans from various federal, state, institutional and private sources, as well
as through on-campus student employment. Financial aid is available to students with and without
financial need.
Important
Processing time on all incoming documents is 30-45 business days (6-8 weeks) from the date it is
received in the Financial Aid Office.
FAFSA Help Sessions
Help sessions are available in the Financial Aid Office on Tuesdays from 3 to 4 p.m.
and on Fridays from 10 to 11 a.m.
Loans
In order to participate in the Federal Loan program, students must complete the following:
- Complete your FAFSA application (BHC code 014471)
- Complete Loan Entrance Counseling
- Complete your Master Promissory Note
- Submit your Loan Request Form to bhcFAVA@dcccd.edu
- Apply for the Higher One Card
- Be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Brookhaven College
All students must be eligible to participate in the Federal Financial Aid Program. Other eligibility criteria will be reviewed by the Financial Aid Office.
Loans will not be available to pay tuition and books. Please allow 6-8 weeks for processing. You will receive an e-mail notification once your request is processed.
Loan Exit Counseling
Borrowers must complete a loan exit counseling session during the last semester before transferring or leaving the
college that awarded the student's loans. You may complete the loan exit counseling online at either the
Mapping Your Future website or at the U.S. Department of Education's
National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) website.
