The process for applying for and accepting federal loans has changed for the 2008-2009 academic year. Students interested in a federal loan MUST attend a loan counseling session. The loan sessions will be published closer to the beginning of the Fall term.
Your federal loans may be eligible for the Federal Loan Consolidation Program. Click here (PDF) to read more about this opportunity.
To apply for on-campus student employment positions, a financial aid application is necessary to determine whether wages are paid from the need-based Federal Work-Study Program or from institutional funds. Usually students are paid minimum wage, currently $7 per hour, and may work no more than 18.5 hours per week.
Many on-campus jobs are available, but students must apply, interview and be selected by a hiring unit. To seek employment, students should come to the Scholarships/Financial Aid Office to obtain a student employment referral review package. Work-study students are required to set up a direct deposit account with a bank in order to receive their pay.
AmeriCorps gives students opportunities to receive funds in exchange for service to the community. To read more about the program, visit the AmeriCorps Web site. Speak with a Scholarships/Financial Aid Office representative to explore possible AmeriCorps work assignments.
