The Brookhaven College Police Department
is located in Building B, Room B200. The department provides police

15 commissioned peace officers, certified through the Texas Commission
on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education, TCLEOSE.
The
department has:
All department members regularly attend TCLEOSE-approved classes and in-service training to receive updates on current regulations and new laws. The officers also receive training in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Emergency Cardiac Care yearly to maintain their proficiency in handling emergency-care situations. The Brookhaven College Police Department reports directly to the vice president of business services and works closely with the vice presidents of student development and instruction and the college president.
Every effort is made to maintain a safe campus environment. High visibility patrols and frequent checks of campus buildings and grounds assure a quick response to those requesting assistance. The department maintains a crime prevention program for all staff and faculty members and, during student orientation, provides students with information on personal services such as providing an escort to vehicles, unlocking vehicles, providing a battery jump or airing up a flat tire. The college staff newsletter, Courtyard Chatter, and college newspaper, The Courier, regularly contain information on crime prevention programs and list all reported crimes such as murder, sexual assault (forcible and non-forcible), robbery, aggravated assault, burglary or motor vehicle theft.
As one of nine educational facilities in the Dallas County Community College District, Brookhaven College has an enrollment of approximately 11,500 academic-credit students and 5,000 noncredit students during each fall and spring semester. The summer enrollments include about 8,000 students each year. Our teaching faculty includes 120 full-time and 492 part-time members.
The Brookhaven College Police Department strongly encourages each person on campus to take note of the locations of red emergency telephones, white emergency call boxes, exits and office locations, so that immediate assistance may be obtained easily during emergencies. Please be familiar with the college and constantly be aware of your surroundings. Please keep books, backpacks and other valuables safely in hand at all times. Call boxes in parking lots are marked with blue lights.
