Department Information

The Brookhaven College Police Department is charged with the personal safety of students, employees and visitors. The Police Department is staffed by 11 commissioned Texas peace officers and one safety officer. The department is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Patrol of the campus is performed by foot, automobile and bicycle units.

The Brookhaven College police officers have full arrest and enforcement authority and possess all the powers, privileges and immunities accorded police officers in and by the state of Texas. Sworn personnel are empowered by applicable provisions of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedures, and Texas Education Code, and the rules and regulations promulgated by the Board of Trustees of the Dallas County Community College District.

The city of Farmers Branch Police Department and the Brookhaven College Police Department maintain a concurrent jurisdiction agreement to provide the faculty, staff, students and visitors with the best possible protection on campus. The safety of everyone on campus is our number one concern. If you should observe something that needs to be brought to our attention, we can be reached in the following manner.

1. Dial 972-860-4290 for the Police Communications Center or dial 9-1-1 from campus telephones.
   
2. Use an emergency wall phone located in major traffic areas in all buildings.
   
3. Use one of the 15 white emergency call boxes located in parking lots of the campus.
   
4. Use one of the nine white emergency call boxes located around the jogging trail.
