Brookhaven College Police Department

Bldg. B, Room B200

Welcome to the Brookhaven College Police Department’s website. We are happy to have this avenue of communication where we can share information with the college community and our visitors. Our Internet presence reflects our department’s Community Policing philosophy and our commitment to providing the best service possible.

The mission of the Brookhaven College Police Department is to protect life and property within the Dallas County Community College District, to maintain a positive academic environment and to provide professional support services to the college community.

We have a Crime Prevention Program implemented, including the assignment of a Crime Prevention Officer. This officer is responsible for providing crime awareness information to the college community through information brochures, classroom lectures and community events. Events we have implemented include “Season to be Sober” – Drinking and Driving Awareness Day - and a Crime Awareness Day; the purpose of these events is to increase our students' awareness of important issues that could have a dramatic impact on their lives.

There will be various emergency drills conducted throughout the year in order to prepare students what to do in emergency situations. There are wall charts in each building that explain what actions to take during lock-downs, fire drills, tornado drills, etc. I ask that you take a few minutes to read the charts and become familiar with our procedures.

We hope you find our website useful and informative. As special topics or problems arise, we will make that information available. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments. I look forward to working together to create a safe and secure college environment.

Thank you,
John M. Klingensmith,
Director of Police
