(Brookhaven College Police Department)
Possible Threat to the Community
"Your Right to Know"

Date: 5/28/14

In compliance with the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998 the Brookhaven College Police are giving notice of the following threat(s):

SPECIFIC THREAT:
On Wednesday, May 28, at approximately 8:30 a.m., an attempted purse snatching occurred on the Brookhaven College campus grounds. The alleged suspect described below approached the victim between the open area off Marsh Lane, after the bridge crossing the creek and toward the P5 parking lot and Building E. He grabbed her cell phone out of her hand and smashed it on the ground. He then attempted to snatch the victim's purse from her shoulder, but was unable to obtain the purse. The suspect did not speak during the attack. The Brookhaven Police and Farmers Branch Police Departments were unable to locate the suspect.

SUSPECT:
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5'9", with a thin build, wearing a white tee-shirt and blue baseball hat, and with a tattoo of a cross on his left forearm.

It can be assumed that conditions continue to exist that may pose a threat to members and guests of the community. It is the duty of the institution to warn of possible "dangerous conditions" on or near its campus, and at affiliate organizations off campus; an "affirmative duty" exists to warn persons associated with this College of possible peril at the hands of some third party or parties.

Please forward this notice to your colleagues and post it on appropriate bulletin boards in your area.
