| The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, in compliance with state
legislative action, requires that all students be tested before taking courses
at a public community college, public technical college, or public university
in Texas. It is not an admissions test. |
| Texas public institutions of higher education are in transition from the
Texas Academic Skills Program/TASP to the Texas Success Initiative. The
new rules and regulations will be posted on this Web site as soon as details
are finalized. Please note that assessment of student academic skills will
continue to be required. |
| What is the Accuplacer? |
| Accuplacer is a computerized untimed test of reading, math, and writing
and includes a writing sample. This test is given daily and is approved
as an alternate assessment to TSI. |
| If you have questions, please contact the Advising and Counseling Center,
972-860-4830, or the Multicultural Center, 972-860-4845. If you are a student
with special needs, please call Special Services at 972-860-4847. |
| Students average three to five hours to complete either the Accuplacer
or TSI test. |
| IMPORTANT: Children cannot be
left unattended in buildings or parking lots while you are in testing. |
| See the Brookhaven
College Catalog for more information about the approved certificate
programs. |
