Texas Success Initiative Information
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, in compliance with state legislative action, requires that all students
be tested before taking courses at a public community college, public technical college, or public university in Texas.
It is not an admissions test.
Texas public institutions of higher education are in transition from the Texas Academic Skills Program/TASP to the
Texas Success Initiative. The new rules and regulations will be posted on this Web site as soon as details are
finalized. Please note that assessment of student academic skills will continue to be required.
Important!
Children cannot be left unattended in buildings or parking lots while you are in testing.
What is the Accuplacer?
