National Involvement


Brookhaven College is a member of Second Nature, a network of higher education institutions committed to building a positive, sustainable future by achieving carbon neutrality and developing resilient campuses and communities. 

Since February 2017, Brookhaven College has been a participant in Second Nature's Carbon CommitmentWe are also a member of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), the Sustainability Education and Economic Development (SEED) and the Community College Affiliate for Sustainability Education (CCASE).


Since 2010 Brookhaven College has participated in RecycleMania®, an annual recycling competition among colleges and universities nationwide. In spring 2017 Brookhaven collected 23,352 pounds of recyclables, the equivalent to keeping eight cars off the road. View past Brookhaven RecycleMania® results here​​.

Tree Campus USA

Brookhaven College has been recognized as a Tree Campus USA® by the Arbor Day Foundation since 2013. ​​
