National Involvement


Brookhaven College is a member of Second Nature, a network of higher education institutions committed to building a positive, sustainable future by achieving carbon neutrality and developing resilient campuses and communities. 

Since February 2017, Brookhaven College has been a participant in Second Nature's Carbon CommitmentWe are also a member of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), the Sustainability Education and Economic Development (SEED) and the National Council for Science and the Environment (NCSE).

Tree Campus USA

Brookhaven College has been recognized as a Tree Campus USA® by the Arbor Day Foundation since 2013. ​​


Since 2010 Brookhaven College has participated in RecycleMania®, an annual recycling competition among colleges and universities nationwide. In spring 2019, Brookhaven collected 18,506 pounds of recyclables, an average of 2.4 lbs per student and employee. This is the equivalent of keeping five cars off the road.
