English for Speakers of Other Languages

WorkReadyU at Brookhaven College offers English as a Second Language (ESL) free of charge to participants who place in ESL Level Basic and ESL Level One. The ESL courses offered by WorkReadyU use an integrated approach to lay a foundation and then grow participants' skills in reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar and vocabulary which are all necessary for continued success in English language learning as well as increased success in places of work, job training programs, community involvement, and academic pursuits.

Placement in a level is determined by an initial test and attendance at an ESL Orientation is mandatory for participation in WorkReadyU ESL courses. When ready for ESL Level Two, participants will matriculate into Workforce Language courses at https://www.brookhavencollege.edu/cd/ce/cepgms/language-institute/pages/esl.aspx.
