Taking engineering classes at Brookhaven College is an affordable way to get started on a path to a brighter future. Whether you’re taking classes to transfer to a four-year college or university, or for personal enrichment, our curriculum will give you the foundational skills you need.
Our engineering program is for students who think logically and use critical analysis to find solutions. Our classes set a foundation for students who are interested in studying engineering in two primary fields: civil and mechanical engineering.
Civil engineering focuses on design and construction of structures. Mechanical engineering deals with the design, construction and use of machines.
Civil engineers designed the roads you traveled today, the buildings you visited, the water systems that allowed you to brush your teeth and so much more.
Mechanical engineers build things that move and whether it is a lightweight engine for the cars of tomorrow or a heart valve within a human body, mechanical engineers likely had a hand in its design.
While these two branches of engineering seem vastly different, the core beginning concepts are the same, so you can start down the path for either course of study with the classes in our engineering program.
• Our engineering teachers all have field experience. • Program has free engineering tutoring.• Soft skills training prepares students for leadership.• Opportunities available for mentoring from practicing engineers.
