Taking geology classes at Brookhaven College is an affordable way to get started on a path to a brighter future. Whether you’re taking classes to transfer to a four-year college or university, or for personal enrichment, our curriculum will give you the foundational skills you need.
Geologists study the Earth and how its many systems work together. The science also looks at the history of the Earth and how its systems have functioned and changed over the planet’s history.
Items in the news often have an impact on or are impacted by the study and understanding of the Earth’s geology.
What does climate change really mean?
Where are we finding resources for energy?
Where will we find enough water in the future?
These are just some of the questions and issues that scientists, newsmakers and politicians are bringing up that are directly related to geology.
Because geology is the study of the Earth around us, the Geology Department can offer students opportunities for field trips and field study as well.
The Geology Department at Brookhaven College offers courses for science majors and non-science majors. We offer daytime, evening, online and hybrid courses to meet student needs. The geology faculty members are preofessional geologists with real-world experience in geology.
