The Medical Front Office program at Brookhaven will prepare you for a front office role in a variety of health care setttings. Our faculty draw on their knowledge and experience to ensure student success.
Are you organized and good at keeping track of details? Have you thought about a health career but would rather work in an office than with patients?
“Front office” skills allow you to work in a medical setting without direct patient contact.
Medical front office assistants work in clinics, hospitals, doctors’ offices, medical insurance companies, health care organizations and more. They prepare you to perform administrative duties such as dealing with incoming and outgoing patients, scheduling and monitoring appointments, creating and maintaining patient records, applying standardized codes to patient records, and insurance billing.
Medical coding specialists rely on their knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, diseases and medications to assign a diagnostic or procedural code to each entry in a patient’s record. so that the physician practices and hospitals they work for get reimbursed from insurance companies for services and facilities provided to patients.
