Ray-Mel Cornelius

Program Coordinator, Faculty and Atrium Gallery Director

Ray-Mel Cornelius has taught Visual Communications at Brookhaven College since 1987. A professional illustrator and graphic artist since 1977, he has received commissions from diverse clients, including Boy Scouts of America, the Dallas Opera, Dell Publishing, Elektra Records, Frito-Lay, GTE, Hyperion, the Los Angeles Times, Minute Maid, The New York Times, Ocean Spray, Samsung, Time Inc. and the Washington National Opera.

His work has been recognized by the New York Society of Illustrators, as well as by Graphis, Communication Arts and Print magazines.

He serves as the director of the college’s Atrium Gallery, which curates exhibits of work by students and professionals in various visual communications fields and is home to the annual Texas 2Show, a juried student design competition.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from East Texas State University, now Texas A&M University at Commerce. He has also taught at Collin County Community College and TCU. He is a member of the Dallas Society of Visual Communications and past president of the Dallas Society of Illustrators.
