Karan Marshall began teaching Child Development at Eastfield College in 1994. She holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of North Texas and a master’s degree in child development from Texas Woman’s University. She has also done graduate work at Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University.
She became a grant manager in the Child Development department at Eastfield in 2001, and as part of that work also supervised the evening child-care program in the college’s Parent-Child Study Center, now reorganized into the Children’s Laboratory School. She began advising students in Teacher Preparation and Child Development in 2005.
She has been active in Dallas’ early childhood professional community since the early 1970’s. She has served as an officer for the Dallas Association for the Education of Young Children and the Texas Association for the Education of Young Children, as well as in the Child Development Educators Association. She has served on the board of the Open Door Preschool and currently serves on the board of Dallas Bethlehem Center.
