Health Careers

Students preparing for a health profession can complete prerequisite courses at Brookhaven College. Students take our courses:

  • before transferring to a 4-year college or university;
  • while they are currently enrolled at a 4-year college or university ; or
  • during summers back in North Texas to get a head start on their course-work.

These courses are transferable to other colleges and universities. Check with advisors at the destination program to confirm which courses are acceptable for transfer. 


BIOL 1406 Biology for Science Majors I

  • Offered with lecture and lab on-campus, or hybrid with lecture online and lab on-campus
  • Offered in fall and spring semesters and summer session


BIOL 1407 Biology for Science Majors II

  • Offered with lecture and lab on-campus, or hybrid with lecture online and lab on-campus
  • Offered in fall and spring semesters, and summer session
  • BIOL 1406 is the course prerequisite for BIOL 1407


BIOL 2401 Anatomy and Physiology I

  • Offered with lecture and lab on-campus
  • Offered in fall and spring semesters, and summer session
  • BIOL 1406 or SCIT 1407 is the course prerequisite for BIOL 2401


BIOL 2402 Anatomy and Physiology II  

  • Offered with lecture and lab on-campus, or hybrid with lecture online and lab on-campus
  • Offered in fall and spring semesters, and summer session
  • BIOL 2401 is the course prerequisite for BIOL 2402


BIOL 2416 Genetics

  • Offered with lecture and lab on-campus<
  • Offered in fall and spring semesters
  • BIOL 1406 is the course prerequisite for BIOL 2416


BIOL 2421 Microbiology for Science Majors

  • Offered with lecture and lab on-campus
  • Offered in fall and spring semesters
  • BIOL 1406, BIOL 1407 and CHEM 1411 are the course prerequisites for BIOL 2421
