The following is a list of degrees and certificates offered by the Criminal Justice department.


An Associate of Arts with a field of study in Criminal Justice is designed to meet the needs of students who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university and major in Criminal Justice.



Several courses within the Criminal Justice program are offered during specific semester only. Please plan your schedule accordingly.

  • CRIJ 1301 - Intro to Criminal Justice (Fall/Spring)
  • CRIJ 1306 - Court Systems and Practices (Fall only)
  • CRIJ 1307 - Crime in America (Fall/Spring)
  • CRIJ 1310 - Fundamentals of Criminal Law (Spring only)
  • CRIJ 2313 - Correctional Systems and Practices (Fall only)
  • CRIJ 2328 - Police Systems and Practices (Spring only)

Tuition Exemption Program

Under section 54.208 of the Texas Education Code, peace officers and volunteer firefighters are eligible to receive free tuition within specific fire science and criminal justice courses. For more information, visit the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board website.

Individuals are also invited to visit the College for All Texans website for additional exemption programs and financial aid resources.
